Rhode Island has a vibrant education innovation cluster–with myriad partners, individuals, and organizations engaged in meaningful work. It’s too much to keep track of day-to-day. And, while we know it’s important to keep moving forward, we also know that one of the best ways to do that is to stop and look back at how far you’ve come.
So join us at Federal Hill Pizza in Providence for an afternoon of reflection, celebration, and storytelling as we look back across our RI education ecosystem and all our partner orgs at everything that we’ve collectively and individually accomplished this year.
Food and drink will be provided.

Design Thinking Support with New England Basecamp

Kick off 2019 and support EduvateRI member organization, NE Basecamp, in planning a spring design thinking session with parents, community members, and others. This will be a chance to both share current efforts of EduvateRI members and go deep, supporting one member as they develop a new project this coming spring.

How can community members best engage with and support their local high schools? How can students be meaningfully included in their own learning? How can we best support educators as they work to expand, deepen, and personalize learning experiences for their students?
Join us at the next EduvateRI meeting to learn more and help shape the structure of a new effort to help all RI high schools answer those questions.
This will be a roll-up-your-sleeves session: The group will provide important feedback and help shape a new design challenge for all RI high schools. The state needs all voices to make this project as successful as possible.
We’ll also have a chance to network, catch up, and share out projects from all attendees.

Help us end our 2017-18 EduvateRI programming with a bang!
Join us for the final EduvateRI meeting of the school year for a recap of our collective accomplishments, a look ahead to next year’s programming, and generally great conversation with the Cluster community.
We’ll also have a chance to learn more about ongoing research from the University of Rhode Island and New England Basecamp on the impact and implications of personalized learning Rhode Island–as well as offer feedback on the best next steps for this research in the coming months and beyond.
Thanks to New England Basecamp for hosting! As always, we’ll have food, drink, and a great conversation. Please feel free to invite friends and spread the word.

We know the power of crowd-sourcing solutions: Different perspectives lead to different solutions and ideas. Even simply stating your problems of practice out loud allows you to see them in new lights.
Consultancy Protocols through EduvateRI are designed to support our local schools and districts engage a diverse community of education stakeholders to ID the best possible solutions to some of their most complex or pressing issues.
This session will dig into a problem of practice surfaced at 360 High School in Providence; we encourage all perspectives in the education ecosystem to join, share your ideas in support of 360 HS, and gain some new ideas of your own. There is no pre-work to participate and, as always with EduvateRI, food will be provided.
Blended and Personalized Learning Conference: April 5-7, 2018

- Eduvate RI Workshop with Diversity Talks (February 5, 2018)
Co-hosted with Rhode Island College’s Feinstein School for Education and Human Development, this workshop brought together 40 stakeholders from across the education sector to learn how to engage students in conversations around implicit bias. The workshop was run by students through Diversity Talks and is the first of an eight-part workshop series around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- January 2018 Kick-Off Meeting with the Coalition for Access, Affordability, and Success
This kick-off meeting for 2018 focused on bridging the gap between traditional college admissions and enrollment processes and K-12’s increasing focus on personalized learning, performance assessments, and student ILPs and portfolios.
We had a chance to network–as always–and then heard from the locally based Coalition for Access, Affordability, and Success before brainstorming and supporting the Coalition’s efforts to increase student college enrollments in Rhode Island.
2017 Events
- October Consultancy Protocol with Barrington Public Schools
In September, we got together to reconnect and get an overview of partner efforts ongoing and launching in Rhode Island–including the PrepareRI Initiative.
This month, we’ll go deep with one EduvateRI member, Barrington Public Schools. Using a Consultancy Protocol, attendees will be able to use their unique knowledge and perspectives to walk through and generate solutions to a problem of practice Barrington is currently working through.
Come gain insights into Barrington’s current work and lend your own unique expertise to improve practice in one of our Lighthouse Schools districts.

A chance before the school year ends to reconnect with colleagues and strategize the work of EduvateRI over the upcoming school year!

Join us for the 2nd Annual NextGenLeadersRI forum, hosted by the Academy for Career Exploration in partnership with Roger Williams University School of Continuing Studies.Be a part of the conversation about health equity and education and what we can do to improve fresh food access and support local communities.
- Blended and Personalized Learning Conference (April 1, 2017)
The Highlander Institute and the Christensen Institute are excited to partner for our 6th Annual Blended & Personalized Learning Conference. The goal of this convening is to share proven practices from the best classroom, school and district success stories across the country.With a focus on sharing the most effective implementation examples, participants will hear from district, building, classroom and student leaders to understand the critical elements behind their blended and personalized learning success.
